Wrap yourself in elegance: Louis Vuitton silk scarves are the timeless luxury accessory that’s more versatile than you might think!
Is the Louis Vuitton Scarf Worth the Hype? I’d been wanting to get a designer silk scarf for a while. I was thinking it’d be Hermès or Dior but I ended up at an event at Louis Vuitton and after a couple of glasses of champagne, before I knew it, this Louis Vuitton silk scarf was on my credit card! It’s actually surprisingly close to the price of an Hermes scarf so is it worth it?

Louis Vuitton scarf review | Know before you buy!
Curious to know if the luxury Louis Vuitton scarf is worth the hefty price tag? Watch this unboxing and review of the Louis Vuitton Monogram silk scarf to find out! As well as how to decide what size LV shawl or scarf to get and how to authenticate your Louis Vuitton scarf and spot a fake in 5 easy steps.
What sizes do Louis Vuitton scarves come in
There are quite a few sizes when it comes to choosing your Louis Vuitton scarf and they’re all good for different things:
- Square 90 (35.4″ x 35.4″). Large enough to wear as a shawl, top or sarong.
- Square 70 (26.4″ x 26.4″). Works well for tying different ways around your neck.
- Square 55 (21.7″ x 21.7″). Works well as a bandana, head scarf, or neck scarf.
- Bandeaus 47.2″ x 3. Wider than the BB Bandeau for accessorizing.
- BB Bandeaus 47.2″ x 2″. Great as a bag twilly, neck tie or tying onto your belt loop.
I wanted the larger square 90 size so that I could wear it not just as as scarf but also as a top or pareo. I’ll do a separate video on lots of different ways to style a silk scarf like this because the more you wear it, the better an investment piece it is. I also bought a gold scarf ring to be able to wear it more ways and to add a luxe accent.

Louis Vuitton Ultimate Monogram 90 scarf
There are so many choices of colors, prints and sizes when it comes to Louis Vuitton scarves but the reason I chose the LV Ultimate Monogram 90 square was I because I liked that it was black and white. It means I can wear it with pretty much any color and with everything from my swimwear to dresses. I don’t tend to suit beige and this is also more eye-catching. The larger logo also looks fresh and modern and I like the pop of red.
The Louis Vuitton Ultimate Monogram 90 scarf is a nod to the House’s Leather Goods collection. This design is a mix of screen printed, oversized monogram flowers made from illustrations of straps, locks and chains set against a monogram pattern background with a contrasting Louis Vuitton signature at the bottom and a contrasting hand-rolled finish. It’s one of their most classic and timeless styles that you’ll be able to wear year after year.
It’s the antithesis of quiet luxury and I’m ok with that. I thought it would look predominantly white but on the model it looks more black. So I think it just depends on how you tie it. On the plus side, the black will show my makeup and tanner less than white.
I love the color scheme and versatility of the Square 90. The only downside is that all Louis Vuitton scarves are dry clean only so stay away from the red wine and pasta sauce!
How can you tell if a Louis Vuitton scarf is real
There are 5 main ways to authentic your Louis Vuitton scarf:
- Buy directly from a Louis Vuitton store or store that offers a lifetime authenticity guarantee.
- Check the stitching. The stitches should be perfectly straight, even, and the edges of the scarf should be clean. If it’s new the edges should show no signs of fraying.
- Does it feel like quality? All Louis Vuittons scarves are made with either cashmere, wool, silk or fine cotton and you should be able to feel the quality.
- The care and composition label on a genuine Louis Vuitton scarf will indicate what it is made of, where it was made, and have the care instructions in clean, crisp lettering.
- A authentic new Louis Vuitton scarf will come in the brand’s official packaging.

Are Louis Vuitton scarves worth it
I’ll answer this the same way as I do most designer items. It depends on your budget, how much you’ll wear it and how quickly it’ll date. Scarves are a classic that will always be in style but it’s the print that can date. So try to go for neutral colors and classic prints versus something like hot pink that will date quickly.

Why are Louis Vuitton scarves so expensive?
You can ask that of any luxury brand. However, a few reasons for the high price point are impeccable craftsmanship, materials and desirability. Highly skilled artisans sew with precision to achieve the flawless finish you’ll find on your Louis Vuitton scarf. Louis Vuitton also sources the finest materials which are all subject to rigorous quality testing. The creation process is time-consuming and done by skilled workers which adds to the production costs for this luxury house.
Louis Vuitton also deliberately makes limited production pieces. Supply and demand pushes prices up with any commodity and the scarcity creates exclusivity.
And yes, you’re paying for the monogram, status symbol and heritage. Louis Vuitton’s monogram with its iconic LV pattern has been around since the late 19th century and is still a symbol synonymous with luxury and exclusivity. When you buy any designer piece, it’s not just a purchase. It’s an investment in a lifestyle and an identity.

Regret buy or investment piece?
Do I regret buying the Louis Vuitton Ultimate Monogram Square 90? No. Yes, it’s a lot but all designer scarves are and this one is so different to a lot of others I’ve seen. I just need to make an effort to wear it! Whether that’s to add a classic, elegant touch to my everyday outfits like jeans, a t-shirt and blazer or as a top.
On the downside:
- The price.
- It’s silk so I’m nervous of it getting pulls. So I’ll definitely be careful with what jewelry I wear with it and avoid anything that could catch on the delicate fabric.
- It’s dry clean only.
