Key Takeaways
- Kristen Stewart wore her platinum hair in an updo with magenta strands peeking out of the messy topknot.
- The pink hair completed her all-pink Chanel outfit.
Time and time again, Kristen Stewart shows us you can be two things at once. You can be Team Edward and Team Jacob (she’s shown her love for both over the years), an actor and a director (her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, premiered at Cannes Film Festival today), and a platinum blonde and fashion color lover (just look at her latest updo for proof).
On Friday, May 16, Stewart walked the red carpet at Cannes wearing a baby pink Chanel tweed short set overlaid with pink tulle. The color also made its way to the very tip of her top-knotted head, where some pink strands made their mark on her platinum blonde locks.
Kristen Stewart’s Pink Hair Inspiration

Last month, Stewart arrived at the premiere of another movie with freshly bleached hair and some new wispy bangs. The fringe is still holding strong, but she’s definitely been back to Hair Los Angeles owner Daniel Moon‘s bleach bowl since the first week of April. Her dark roots have disappeared, and the bright color taking over her lengths is obviously one of his brilliant formulas.
Moon tells Byrdie that the “pinky red dip dye” was chosen in reference to a line in the book that The Chronology of Water was adapted from.
“One of the opening lines in the book that the movie is based off mentions a color called ‘earth blood’ so that inspired referencing a pinky/red color for her hair,” he shares.
Kristen Stewart’s Pink-Detailed Bun
The messy bun was placed toward the top of Stewart’s head by hairstylist Bridget Brager. Though you could see a semblance of the clean updo it might’ve once been when she turned around, the wispy magenta strands pouring out of the knot took over the style, making it something new, edgy, and fully K-Stew.

And though the pink didn’t extend to her bangs, they were also putting in work in the face-framing department. Their uniform brightness made the pink even more fun and surprising.
The Rest of Her Pink Look
Stewart’s look was made complete with a neutral manicure, burgundy toenail polish, and makeup by Charlotte Prevel. They kept things simple with a wash of pink eyeshadow, the smallest touch of blush, and lip balm. Keeping the color story on her face toned down allowed her dark eyebrows to shine. And her hair, of course.

Now we just have wait for the movie to premiere closer to home so we can see this pink-haired genius at work. Bonus: press tour looks aplenty.
