Much unlike her Death Becomes Her character, Madeline, Megan Hilty is perfectly fine with letting herself age naturally. The Broadway star recently spoke to People during the Tony Awards press day about her experience with Botox and filler and why she’s decided to hold off on getting it for the time being.

In the Broadway adaptation of the 1992 film, Hilty plays an actress who drinks a magic potion that promises eternal youth—obviously with dire consequences, as she told People during the event that metaphorically drinking the potion is “not worth it.”

“Don’t do it, girl,” she joked. Hilty also pointed out that playing a character obsessed with not aging has actually influenced her to live a life opposite of that way of thinking. “Madeline has taught me—because actually in doing ‘Falling Apart’ every night, it’s a funny song, but it’s funny because it’s true,” she said. “Falling Apart” is a musical number in which Hilty’s character sings about having to maintain her image through things like plastic surgery and injectables. While she’s gotten Botox and filler before, she’s chosen to limit how often she does it these days.

“Women in particular, really, we torture ourselves in this quest for this idea of perfection that just doesn’t exist. And so through that, I’ve actually kind of gone the opposite way,” she said. “I stopped my Botox years ago and my fillers and all that stuff. And not to say that I won’t do it again, but in doing this song a lot, it’s got me going, ‘Well, wait a minute. Do I have to do that? Do I have to keep doing that? I don’t know. I just don’t want to at this moment.’ It’s thrown a lot into question for me.”

Hilty joins a chorus of celebrities who have opened up about their journeys with cosmetic treatments in recent weeks. Allison Holker told her fans via Instagram that she prefers to have her doctor inject her with a very minimal amount of Botox, while Ariana Madix explained during an interview why she doesn’t get filler. We’re not sure what’s causing all this transparency lately, but we’ll happily take it.
