Sarah Jessica Parker is what one would call a tastemaker. Keke Palmer could share at least one Carrie Bradshaw-inspired outfit she’s worn publicly in the past month, and I’ve personally been reaching for my black cherry polish since the actor showed off the nail color back in February.
Now, the 60-year-old has a new manicure shade to offer up. On Thursday, April 10, she attended the premiere of Smash on Broadway alongside her husband, Matthew Broderick, and their 15-year-old twins, Tabitha and Marion.
As she posed with her family, her manicure couldn’t help but peek out. It was short, it was shiny, and it was black.

Cut super short like usual, Parker’s nails were painted a shiny black shade. The color was a precise match for her shoes, a pointy pair of pumps. (It’s also worth noting that Tabitha and Marion inherited her good taste in footwear—they were wearing teal satin platforms and bedazzled mesh kitten heels respectively.)

Though the family’s shoe collection isn’t in reach for the average person, Parker’s manicures are easy to replicate. Maybe you could even paint your toes the same color to get a little closer?
For this one, I’d suggest a shiny black polish like Essie’s Gel Couture Longwear Nail Polish in Like It Loud followed by a top coat to amp up the shine even more.
Black Manicures for Spring
This spring, we’ve been seeing a lot of deep, dark manicures as celebrities continue to evade bright colors in favor of simple French tips, milky shades, and even completely naked nails.

If a shiny black is too simple for you (but you’re not ready to go purple like Hailey Bieber), you can always try out an edgy matte black French manicure like Rihanna. Or go just a little lighter with a classic navy blue like Gwyneth Paltrow.
The best part? Any of these looks will match your shoes; SJP wouldn’t have it any other way.
